HER UNIVERSE BREAKING NEW GROUND
WITH “GEEK COUTURE”
The Her Universe Fashion Show this past July proved that Geek
Fashion is the Future!
NEW YORK, NY – September 4th, 2014 – Thanks to groundbreaking sci-fi/pop culture fashion apparel company, Her Universe™, fangirls are finally making a statement in the fashion community utilizing style as their ultimate superpower. This fashion power was on display during The Her Universe Fashion Show, at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the world’s premiere comic book and popular arts convention. The first-ever full-scale “Geek Couture” fashion show and design competition was the brainchild of Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein who joined forces with licensed apparel destination Hot Topic and genre/pop culture multi-platform empire, Nerdist Industries, to bring it fully to life. Fangirls have been using the halls of San Diego Comic-Con to showcase their custom fashions but Her Universe brought it all together in a groundbreaking event which gave fangirls a platform to show their designs to the world.
36 designers and their models made their way down the San Diego runway in front of a standing room only crowd which exploded with applause to see these cutting edge sci-fi fashions with serious “Geek Couture” appeal. Today, Her Universe, Hot Topic and Nerdist Industries have released a special highlight video of the excitement as well as the sights and sounds of the first-ever Her Universe Fashion Show. Her Universe, Hot Topic and Nerdist are currently working with the two winners to create a fashion collection to be offered through Hot Topic and are already planning to make the fashion show an annual event.
“Geek Fashion is trending and we are just getting started,” said Her Universe Founder Ashley Eckstein. “I am so excited to be working with our winners, Amy Beth Christenson and Andrew MacLaine, to develop a geek fashion collection for Hot Topic!”
About Her Universe
Her Universe was launched in 2010 by actress and entrepreneur Ashley Eckstein and The Araca Group, a leading theatrical production and brand management company. Ashley and Araca created Her Universe to address the expanding market of female sci-fi and fantasy fans. We entered our first agreement with Lucas Licensing to develop and produce a line of female-centered Star Wars apparel and accessories. The success of that line was followed up with a collection for BBC America for Doctor Who, and CBS Consumer Products for Star Trek and AMC for The Walking Dead, Nerdist Industries, Marvel and Hasbro for Transformers. You can learn more about Her Universe and purchase the current line of fangirl apparel and accessories by going to www.heruniverse.com and by following Eckstein & Her Universe on Facebook (facebook.com/HerUniverse) and Twitter (twitter.com/HerUniverse).
