First of all… I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported Her Universe at San Diego Comic-Con! We definitely took a major step forward in proving that female fans WILL buy Star Wars/Sci-Fi merchandise. We set goals for our sales and I am proud to say that because of your support, we exceeded our goal for our very first convention! We still have a long way to go, but I like to take things one step at a time and because of your support we all (and I consider this a group effort among all of us) put our best foot forward.
Our Booth!
We had a booth in the Lucasfilm Pavilion. I got to stay at the booth almost the whole convention and it was so great to meet everyone in person and to show off the product. We unveiled two new pieces of apparel. Our Han and Leia “I Know” v-neck shirt designed by Cat Staggs and our Bonnie Burton/Star Wars Manga zip-up hoodie sweatshirt made their debut and will be available on our website very soon! They are both so soft and I literally slept in the hoodie sweatshirt the other night! The picture above is from preview night. As you can see, there are many hats in the back. Thank you to everyone who supported me in my bedazzling efforts. I completed 25 hats for Comic-Con and they were all sold out by Friday morning. I have about 70 more hats to do by Celebration V. I will get back to my rhinestones and craft table tomorrow. Steve Sansweet was one of my first customers! Her even bought a purple rhinestone hat!
Thursday night I got to meet up with my fellow cast members from The Clone Wars and we went to the Star Wars/G4 Party. One of my Her Universe designs hit the red carpet for the first time. I was really comfortable until I was attacked by a Wampa and he accidentally spilled my Pepsi all over me. Then I was sticky for the rest of the night.
Friday was Star Wars day and it was so exciting to start talking about Season 3. Ahsoka has some great episodes in Season 3 and she continues to grow up and mature in this upcoming season. She has some surprises in Season 3 and I am also allowed to tell you that this season connects us back to the old saga a little bit more. Friday night was a blast because we got to go to the TV.com awards to accept out award for best animated show! We also found out that The Clone Wars achieved a Guinness World Record for the highest rated sci-fi animated show currently on television.
On Saturday we had our Her Universe panel. I would like to thank Jane Espenson, Melinda Snodgrass, Erika Kennair, Katie Cook, Mary Franklin, Bonnie Burton and Cat Staggs for their participation! I would also like to thank everyone who came to our panel. We had over 200 people, but for those who could not attend, we will be posting the video on our You Tube channel very soon! I was so honored to share the stage with all of these amazing women and hopefully this is just first of many Her Universe events.
Well, I am still trying to catch up on my sleep after this amazing weekend! I am going to head to bed but I will leave you with this picture below. The wonderful photographer Nicole Love, who provided me with most of these pictures, took this cute shot after our panel. I think this photo definitely epitomizes the phrase geek chic! Thank you again for all of your support this weekend and I will continue to give you some more updates after I get at least 8 hours of sleep……. Ashley 😮
