2018 Her Universe Fashion Show Highlights
The ultimate runway for fangirl fashion, The Her Universe Fashion Show, celebrated its milestone 5th anniversary event at San Diego Comic-Con last year with its biggest and best show yet! A crowd of 1,500 attendees, waited in the Loungefly Lobby for hours to get a seat to watch 25 designers, and their stunning “geek couture” fashions, compete for the ultimate prize – the chance to design a Her Universe and Loungefly collection for Hot Topic. Ashley Eckstein, actress and Her Universe Founder, once again wowed the crowd in the first ever Funko POP! couture gown made out of 500 Jack Skellington heads. Eckstein’s gown was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Four junior designers were celebrated as the winners of the Cartoon Network Junior Designer Contest. Special guests Zenni: Eyes on the Runway host Katie Linendoll, Star Wars: The Clone Wars actors Matt Lanter and Dee Bradley Baker and the new 13th Doctor Who herself, Jodie Whittaker, surprised the crowd by walking the catwalk in the new Doctor Who by Her Universe costume! At the end of the night three winners were crowned and it was announced that they would design a Marvel Avengers: Endgame collection in 2019.
