Fangirl Fashion Pioneer, Her Universe, Celebrates its 5th Anniversary
with Special Gift Card Giveaway
Actress Ashley Eckstein Celebrates with Meerkat Live Stream Anniversary Party on June 22nd
NEW YORK, NY – June 11th, 2015 – Dream Your World. Be Your World. Flaunt Your World. Five years ago, those words, and the vision of Ashley Eckstein, helped to launch a trendsetting new company called Her Universe, which broke new ground and popularized “geek fashion” for the women who love all things nerdy. Now considered the leading company for fangirl fashion, Her Universe is flourishing and expanding into new licenses and forms of entertainment. Founded by actress and entrepreneur Ashley Eckstein (the voice of Star Wars’ Ahsoka Tano) and her business partner, The Araca Group, Her Universe has given fangirls a voice in the world of pop culture.
The company is celebrating its 5th anniversary on June 22nd by giving back to the fans that helped put it on the geek map and is borrowing an idea from Willy Wonka’s playbook and his lucky golden ticket. The first 300 customers who place an order at Heruniverse.com on June 22nd will receive a sealed purple envelope which will be randomly placed into each package and sent out to customers anonymously. Inside each purple envelope will be a Her Universe gift card, personally autographed by Ashley Eckstein, of different values starting at $5 all the way up $500. One lucky customer will receive the $500 gift card.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. Ashley is throwing a 5th anniversary party on June 22nd at the Her Universe offices with live stream segments all day via the social media app Meerkat. Fans will be able to have a live Q & A with Ashley and her team, receive a tour of the offices, and get a sneak peek at new upcoming designs. Make sure to follow @HerUniverse on Twitter to find the Meerkat live stream links all day on June 22nd! In addition, for fangirls who missed out on earlier Force-ful designs, Her Universe will re-release three of its original and most popular Star Wars pieces launched years ago.
“I can’t believe Her Universe is already turning 5 on June 22nd,” said Eckstein. “It seems like yesterday when we decided to venture into the unknown, build a community and provide merchandise for fangirls. The odds were stacked against us, but half of all sci-fi and fantasy fans are women and, together, we stepped into the spotlight and our voices were heard. Thank you for all of your incredible support! We are excited to celebrate our anniversary with everyone, so make sure you grab some cupcakes and follow us live.”
“As longtime devoted sci-fi fans,” added Michael Rego, Chief Executive Officer of The Araca Group, “we feel incredibly humbled to work alongside some of the most iconic brands in the world. We are thrilled to develop and produce merchandise that truly speaks to the fans. Looking forward to the next five years!”
To cap off this 5th anniversary summer, Her Universe will be producing, once again, the second annual must-see “geek couture” Her Universe Fashion Show with its partners, Hot Topic and Blondie Girl Productions, for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The event, which will offer two winners the opportunity to design a fashion collection with Her Universe for Hot Topic, will be held July 9th at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego.
