Well, it's that time of year again when I realize that I need to start my holiday shopping. I've got a long list of family members and I'm always looking for a deal, promotion or something that I know they don't have! I've also found that the crowds on Black Friday are a bit too overwhelming for me, yet I want to have access to the same sales as everyone else. That's when I discovered Cyber Monday. It's fantastic! I can shop for most of the people on my list from the comfort of my own couch and I don't have to worry about driving across town, the traffic and finding a parking spot!
There is an element of risk with online shopping because you can't physically touch and feel something and if you're buying apparel for something else, how do you know you are buying the right size? Well, if you're going to be doing some holiday shopping at Her Universe, let me be your eyes and help you with some shopping tips so you can make an educated choice before making your purchase!
We have several new items for the holidays, so here's my commentary on each item!
The most important thing to know is that the first 1,000 people who order something from Her Universe, starting on Cyber Monday, will receive our third annual Star Wars Holiday pin with an autographed certificate by me for FREE. This year we chose Chewbacca to don the famous Santa hat! This limited edition pin follows the adorable R2-D2 and Yoda holiday pins from previous years and make a great addition to any present. As a general rule of thumb on all of our apparel items, if you do not like your shirts to be fitted and you want them to be a bit loose, always go up at least one size. Some of our shirts run small (and I will point that out) and some of them run true to size but only if you like them fitted. That is just something to keep in mind…
This is our brand new Star Wars pajama set! I've been trying to make a comfortable pair of Star Wars pajamas for a long time now and I am SO excited to finally release these! Designed by the amazing Katie Cook this pajama set is so darn comfortable, you will go to the Dark Side when you realize that you have to take it off in the morning and put on real clothes to start your day. This set runs true to size and is available in sizes SM thru 3X. We realize that not all women are the same size on the top and bottom and that is why you can buy the top and bottom separately. We wanted customers to be able to pick the different sizes they need for both pieces, but please note that you have to go to both pages and enter the top and the bottoms in your shopping cart separately to get this item as a set. I wear a size small in the racerback tank top and I prefer a size medium in the pants because I like my pajama pants to run big and be loose. It depends how you like to wear your pajamas. The pants are flannel and they are soooo comfortable!
This top is back by popular demand! We used this style of shirt for the plus sizes for the Mara Jade v-neck! This is not a juniors cut top. This is a women's cut top! OK, this is where it get's confusing though so stick with me. If you bought one of our plus sized Mara Jade shirts, here is what you need to know… the 3X in the Mara Jade = XL in this shirt and the 4X in the Mara Jade = 2XL in this shirt. SM-L in this shirt will also have more of a women's cut than the Mara Jade shirt did in those sizes. I wear a small in this shirt and it is not super fitted on me like the small in some of the other tops. Bottom line is that this shirt is not in juniors sizes and it's very flattering!
OK, whether you know the Gorn from Star Trek or from Sheldon talking about the Gorn from Star Trek on The Big Bang Theory you'll love this shirt! I got to work with a new guest designer for this design, artist Charity Wood from Bye Bye Robot! Charity is a well known Star Trek artist and you can buy Charity's licensed paintings from her website Bye Bye Robot! As soon as I saw Charity's Gorn painting I knew I needed to put it on a t-shirt! Seriously, how can you not love a monster with bedazzled eyes? Important thing to know about this shirt is that it also comes on a Missy Cut women's t-shirt! This shirt is NOT in juniors sizes. So it will run just like the Star Wars Japan tee above. I am wearing a small shirt. So an XL and 2XL is equal to a 3X and 4X in juniors sizes.
I think geeky earrings are the perfect accessory for any outfit! They are subtle and chic and give a nod to your favorite franchise. This time we offering Star Trek earrings! These sterling silver plated earrings are Lead, Nickel and Cadmium free and make the perfect present for any fangirl!
I am very excited about this new Doctor Who shirt! This shirt was the idea of our friend Cindy at Hot Topic. She is a big Doctor Who fan, just like me, and she wanted a shirt with this favorite phrase on it. While we all know that Amy Pond is The Girl Who Waited from Doctor Who, we want every girl who wears the shirt to be The Girl Who Waited. This shirt is in juniors sizes and I am wearing medium. This shirt will also be available at Hot Topic soon, especially for our International fans who do their Her Universe shopping there!
I love this new Whovian tee! I proudly admit it! I am a Whovian and I have Doctor Who fever! This shirt is simple, to the point and makes a statement. This shirt comes in juniors sizes and I am wearing a medium in this photo. This shirt will also be at Hot Topic soon!
This last new item is one of my favorites because it is SO comfortable! Crew neck sweatshirts are trending this winter but we searched to find a crew neck sweatshirt with a feminine twist. We found this amazing wide neck, tunic length sweatshirt with a front pocket. It is so soft in the inside, I have been wearing mine for several weeks now and I never want to take it off. This sweatshirt is true to size only if you like it fitted. It does have more of a slim fit. I went up one size and I am wearing a medium in this photo, but that's because I like my sweatshirts a little roomy.
UPDATE: We FINALLY have the Doctor Who, Van Gogh Exploding TARDIS shirt back in stock and it will be available for purchase starting on Cyber Monday!!! Yay! If you've been eyeing this shirt, make sure to add this top to your holiday order! Also, the Cyber Monday sale will start at 12 midnight EST!
