Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this Fangirl?
She was diagnosed with a brain tumor one week after her birthday this year. She had to have surgery to drain fluid and biopsy the cyst on her pitutary gland. During her recovery she watched all of the New Doctor Who series. As a ‘Geek Mother’ I was so proud. I didn’t even have to prompt her, she found it all on her own. Her father and I both are big Sci-fi fans , so this was great! She is actually a third generation geek, since my mother is the one that took me to see Star Wars and Star Trek movies when I was a kid! She has gone through this illness without once crying or getting angry! I am amazed at the grace she has had during this time. She is still fighting the lesion in her brain and trying to be able to get through a whole day at school. The medication really wipes her out , and she is always dealing with crazy hormones. Jr High is already bad enough, we had to go and add a scary illness on top of it all!
How does this Fangirl express her fandom?
She loves to watch the shows and movies. We watched almost all of TorchWood for days without stop until we all finished it. She even teaches her father and I about the Doctor Who Universe. She loves to hang out with friends, and has now really gotten into The Hunger Games. She loves the ‘Geek Version’ of any Disney character. She wears glasses, so she just loves anything with a geek on it. She is never ashamed to express her “Inner Geek”!!!!
What is her favorite Fangirl item that she cannot live without?
She loves her Tee-shirt collection and has a Soft Kitty keychain on her purse. She likes to dress as a family in our character tee shirts. She also like to wear jewelry from any of our interests. She wants to start doing some cosplay and go to a Comic-Con as a family.
