MEET HANNAH KENT
Design: Ventress Gown – Star Wars
Growing up on Star Wars and Doctor Who, Hannah Kent has always enjoyed the Sci-Fi and fantasy genres. She has enjoyed drawing and started sewing Barbie clothes at a young age. In high school, her mother taught her how to read patterns and use a sewing machine for life-sized garments. She has been cosplaying for over 10 years, and has even had the opportunity to use her costumes for charitable events. Now working in the VFX Industry, designing and constructing costumes has become her main creative outlet.
After a family friend was diagnosed with cancer, Hannah shaved her head to raise money and awareness for Children’s Cancer Research through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. She has decided to use this opportunity to show that a woman’s beauty and femininity is not defined by her hair, truly believing that “bald is beautiful,” which is exactly what inspired her design. The gown, based on Asajj Ventress who is one of the strongest and most confident women in the Star Wars Universe, is designed to accent a woman’s assets while supporting the beauty of being bald.
