Name of the Fangirl: Stella
Fangirl’s Occupation: Data Analyst
What is her fangirl interest?
Comics (mostly Vertigo with a few DC titles), Video Games (mostly single player RPGs plus the Nintendo classics), TV addict (there are too many to name, but the most recent additions to the list are House of Cards and Todd and the Book of Pure Evil).
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
There is this conversation in the geek world about what “geek girls” can or cannot be, but I see it very differently. The reason I became a geek is because I never fit into a specific box. I’ve always been weird – and as I result I learned to stop trying to “fit in”. Instead, I just love what I love without abandon. I’m always on the lookout for new obsessions – and meeting more ladies in the fangirl community helps me hear about new comics, artists, movies, TV shows, and books I would otherwise miss!
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
So many ways! For example, at my wedding to my fanboy husband, we had a cake buffet that included a series of cake toppers made from action figures of our favorite characters – which included a Buffy cake, Doctor Who cake, Star Trek cake, and Star Wars cake among others. Our wedding rings are actually a green and pink lantern ring.
On a daily basis – TSHIRTS! I live in t-shirts and jeans when I’m not at work. Every year that we venture to San Diego Comic Con, I am on the lookout for new shirts to bring home and add to my collection!
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
– Dr. Seuss
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
Any of my video game consoles!
