What is her fangirl interest?

Makenna loves Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars oh and Sophia the First 🙂 She likes watching the Clone Wars and her favorite Star Wars character is C3P0 and R2D2 (whom as a toddler she called 2DR 🙂 )

Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?

Makenna has made the hearts of many melt with her strong desire to dress up in her Darth Makenna and her desire to represent girl power! She represented herself well at Star Wars Celebration during the Motorcade parade, GeekGirlCon in Seattle where she won the child and fan favorite costume contest, and Star Wars Celebration VI where she wanted her photo taken with every star wars character she could find.

How does this fangirl express her fandom?

Darth Makenna dresses up in a costume that was specially made by her grandmother, mother, and the pink lightsaber created by her father. She wanted to dress up as Darth Vader for Star Wars weekends but I didn’t want people to think she was a boy so we created a costume with a spin of pink girl power that made quite an impact.

What is her favorite quote or personal motto?

“Be Good and Do Good” is our Cales Family motto that we say everyday while heading to the bus stop.

“Don’t give up Makenna” – She says this to herself when in a situation where she is struggling.

What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?

She cannot live without her Pink Lightsaber. Since there is not a pink one in any of the Star War films, we had to create one to match her costume and she makes sure to show and tell everyone about it. During her interview with the Star Wars Underground at Celebration VI, she had to whip it out to show them her skillz and expose the secret that it was painted – ha!
