Name of Fangirl: Larissa
Fangirl’s Occupation: Senior Account Manager at a social media content marketing firm.
What is her Fangirl interest?
These days my #1 love is Doctor Who, but there’s lots of nerdy love to go around! I started “Fangirling” with a lot of the staples of my generation, including Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z. And “Star Wars” and “Back To The Future” got played a lot in my household, right along with Disney movies! I’ve only added more fandoms to the list since then. For example, I was able to enjoy the “Harry Potter” books and phenomena from its earliest days. As soon as I left a screening of “The Fellowship of the Ring” I dove right into the LOTR novels. Thanks to the Marvel movies I’ve begun picking up more comic books to dive into. I adore “Sherlock” and its modern interpretation on the literary character. And I’m currently working my way through “The Walking Dead” – both the show and the compendium books!
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this Fangirl?
Embracing my Fangirl side has opened my life to so many joyful events that I missed out on when I was younger and trying to fit in more as an average student. I would hate to think that another Fangirl is missing out on things for the same reason. So please, from me to you: don’t be afraid to write that fan fiction, make that trip to the local con, or walk around in your favorite “geek” culture attire. Showing off who you are is the best way to fit in with the crowd that will love you for you – passions and all!
How does this Fangirl express her fandom?
I love attending conventions and I love the idea of cosplay, although I usually venture out just in a dress because man, costumes get hot! During my day-to-day I often have a piece of jewelry or a button highlighting one of my favorite fandoms. T-shirts are a solid way to express myself, too.
What is her favorite Fangirl item that she cannot live without?
I can’t pick one!
