Name of the Fangirl: Jessica
Fangirl’s Occupation: Freelance Writer
What is her fangirl interest?
Comics, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and books of all kinds!
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
Jessica has loved to write since she was a little girl. After recently embracing her geeky passions, Jessica turned her love of comics and entertainment into a job: a contributing writer for Comics Crux. Writing for the news hub and social networking site has allowed her to interview comics professionals, learn more about the comics world and meet other like-minded geeks.
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
Jessica loves to geek out at conventions by taking lots of photos of cosplayers and meeting writers/creators/artists. She also interned as a marketing intern for her local comics store, A Comic Shop. As an intern, Jessica co-founded an all-female group for the shop called Fangirls: Comics Club, which meets monthly to talk comics and hang out. Jessica presently keeps up with the comics industry by writing at least one Comics Crux article a day, and reviewing comics every week. As part of her Bucket List, she’s pledged to visit one comic shop in every state in the future, as well as attend conventions in each big city. C2E2 is the first to cross off her list!
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life. – Mark Twain
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
Her collection of comics and books, without a doubt! Especially her copy of Y: The Last Man Vol. 1 signed by artist Pia Guerra, Mind the Gap Vol. 1 signed by writer Jim McCann, and The Walking Dead Vol. 2 signed by artist Charlie Adlard.
