Jenn
Fangirl’s school grade or occupation
Mom, baker, writer, architect
What is her fangirl interest?
Among other things Jenn likes Star Wars, Marvel comics (especially Wolverine), and Hello Kitty.
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
Jenn is crazy talented and never stops moving. She comes up with amazing geeky recipes including Star Wars themed food for an entire party. I am constantly impressed by her creativity.
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
As mentioned above, Jenn designs recipes that focus on comic book characters, Hello Kitty, and more. She also exhibits at conventions such as WonderCon and has participated in geek parenting panels.
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
Her favorite quote is from Ratatouille, of all things. “Anyone can cook.” On her blog she tries to create recipes that are simple, that someone who may be intimidated by cooking can think to themselves, “Hey, even I can do that.” When people see the more complicated Star Wars recipes that she makes she always provides a step by step so that the reader can easily see how the end product isn’t so complicated after all. The same can be said of life: “Anyone can cook” – she likes this phrase because it doesn’t have to apply to cooking, to her it’s basically demystifying anything that you’re afraid of or think you can’t do.
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
She can’t live without is her Star Wars manga hoodie from Her Universe. Designed for Bonnie Burton who also happens to be a friend, it’s clearly fit for women, which is nice because so many geek clothes are usually made for men. She loves the jacket because a bunch of fangirls have them and it’s almost like having a uniform. When you run into other people wearing it you sort of already know that you love the same things.
