Name of the Fangirl: Jen
What is her fangirl interest?
People have just one? Her desk at work has everything from a Buffy calendar to a bat’leth letter opener to a plushie cthulu to a Sherlock computer background to copies of Zombie Dice and Monty Python Fluxx tucked away in her desk drawer for lunch hours to her World of Warcraft mug and that’s only the beginning. Her biggest fangirl coup was her 2 year stint in A Klingon Christmas Carol where she got to combine her love of acting, fandom, and music.
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
Jen’s unbridled enthusiasm over all of her favorite things is contagious and you can’t help but get excited with her. But she took it to a whole new level when she collaborated with Improvised Star Trek and sang a Klingon translation of Sixpence None The Richer’s “Kiss Me” for one of their podcasts. A music video was made for fun but has turned into a viral hit garnering over 40,000 views (and still climbing) in just a few days.
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
From a seemingly neverending rotation of t-shirts and a programmable doorbell that plays the X-files theme in her house, Jen lets her fandom fly whenever she gets a chance. She’s been known to go grocery shopping in her Princess Leia and NyanCat hoodies, rope unsuspecting friends and co-workers into conversations about Doctor Who, and convince strangers to watch Firefly and read the actual books for Game of Thrones.
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
Life is too short to worry about what other people think. <reH muS muSwi’pu’> (or “hater’s gonna hate”) so live what you love!
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
A necklace that says “We will rule over all this land and we will call it … This Land.”
