Name of the Fangirl: Courtney
Fangirl’s Occupation: Cashier at Walmart
What is her fangirl interest?
Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, The Legend of Zelda, Nightvale, Mario Bros., D&D, Firefly, Harry Potter
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
I didn’t express my geeky self throughout my school years, since I was a goth from ages 11-19, I didn’t want people to act more negatively towards me. After I left high school and started trade school as a computer technician, I one day stopped being goth (it didn’t interest me anymore) and tried being “normal”. Which led to one day me saying “screw it” and buying a bunch of Star Wars tees.
I finally “found myself”, and evolved into a nerd I guess. Embraced all the stuff I hid, and made a bunch of friends, one of which is going to be my sister-in-law soon (she introduced me to her brother who is now my future husband).
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
Attempting to be crafty and usually failing at it. Collecting Magic cards and Marvel comic books. Reading Harry Potter like an energetic kid, and forcing my fiance to watch Star Wars.
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
“I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
My Dalek plush keychain that always talks when I put my bag down.
