What is her fangirl interest?
Bonnie says, “Where do I start?! I have so many fangirls interests! I adore Star Wars — probably because I was raised in the MidWest by farmers and secretly wished I had robots to keep me company. I used to pretend that combines and tractors in the distant fields were AT-ATs! I also love Doctor Who — and often pretended my bedroom closet was a TARDIS. I suppose any sci-fi franchise that had spaceships and robots were (and are) dear to my heart! So that also includes the original and rebooted Battlestar Galactica, Red Dwarf, Astro Boy, Thunderbirds, Blade Runner and Battle of the Planets! I’m a also a BIG fan of Godzilla and Ultraman! I have these comfy Gozilla slippers that I wear when I clean house so I can pretend I’m stomping on cities. It makes vacuuming a lot more entertaining! The feminist in me also adores any fantasy, horror or sci-fi that has strong female characters, so in addition to Star Wars & Doctor Who, I LOVE Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Lost Girl, Aliens, and Gingersnaps.”
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
I decided to shine the spotlight on Bonnie because she is the epitome of a Fangirl! She is such a positive beacon of light for everyone else in the Fan community and I thought that she deserved the spotlight to be turned on her! She has been so supportive of me and several other people I know. She is constantly giving of herself and she is truly out to make our fan community a better place. Bonnie always makes me laugh and she is a great friend!
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
Bonnie says, “I express my fandom through crafts. I’ve always had fun making my own toys, puppets, dolls, art — you name it. Crafting makes me happy so it only makes sense for me to make things from my favorite TV shows, movies and comics! I’ve made everything from Chewbacca sock puppets to a Lumpy Space Princess pillow. Plus it’s fun to have craft parties with friends so everyone can show off their crafting skills while celebrating their favorite fandoms.”
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
Bonnie’s favorite quote is, “Only boring people get bored.” She says, “It’s up to you to make your own magic. Don’t be ordinary. Life is short so you to have pack in as many adventures, experiences, loves and lessons as possible before you depart this world. So make every moment count before it’s too late.”
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
Bonnie says, “I always wear a TARDIS necklace. I have 5 or 6 different kinds of TARDIS necklaces. Some are plain and other are more bling-y. It’s fun to see who recognizes it right away as a beacon of Whovianism.”
