Name of Fangirl: Autumn
Fangirl’s Occupation: Stay @ home mom to accommodate my autistic son Axel.
What is her Fangirl interest?
LOTR, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Star Trek, the Fifth Element
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this Fangirl?
Not really looking to be Fangirl of the Day but want to give a shout out to all special needs parents in general and often our “fandom” gives us an outlet and helps us express ourselves and maintain our individuality when the needs of our children overshadow our own needs. For me, my son’s autism prevents us from traveling or even leaving the house most days. Just being able to throw on a favorite TARDIS or Ahsoka shirt gives us something to escape and relate to.
How does this Fangirl express her fandom?
Reading my favorite geeky books and indulging in a movie or Clone Wars on Netflix while sporting a comfy fandom tee and necklace keeps me sane;) Representing with “my other car is a TARDIS” license plate cover and hanging with my dog named “Ahsoka”. It’s the little details that make the day better. A Tolkien tattoo (sorry JRR) and appreciating an equally geeky husband. Making custom geeky pottery Oh, and singing Weird Al’s “YODA” with my son, very important ;)!
What is her favorite Fangirl item that she cannot live without?
How do you pick just one?!?!
