Name: Sydney T.
Location: San Antonio, TX
Bio: I’ve grown up watching the Star Wars movies. It was my very first fandom. When I was 12, I watched Captain America and fell in love. Now I use my fandoms to help my mom arrange Star Wars and super hero events for our wounded warriors and their families because they’re the real life heroes.
Do you have a favorite quote, or personal motto?
“Doesn’t matter what the press says. Doesn’t matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn’t matter if the whole country decides something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. So when the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world – No. You move.” – Captain America
As a fangirl, what are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of how I can make a little girl’s day just by dressing as a female version of her favorite hero. Nearly nothing can top the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you hear a group of little girls squeal because a female Captain America is in the building.
What’s the best thing about being part of this fandom?
I think the best part is using it to help others. Like I said in my bio I help set up events for wounded warriors and their families to have a fun day taking pictures with Darth Vader or Supergirl. I love the impact it has on them because you see the stress just melt off their faces and they become little kids again. It’s amazing and I thank God I have the opportunity to do it.
