Name of Fangirl: Jen
Fangirl’s Occupation: Librarian
What is her Fangirl interest?
Sherlock, Tolkien, Buffy, Harry Potter, Star Wars (oldies!), Doctor Who (WHY WON’T YOU COME FOR ME?!), comics (Batwoman, Doctor Who, Star Trek), My Little Pony, Firefly, anything Whedonverse.
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this Fangirl?
I’m a big nerd – most librarians are huge nerds. We read a lot and we really get deeply, emotionally involved in characters’ lives (whether movie, tv, or print). When Spike believed in Buffy (and vice versa), I believed in Buffy. When #10 didn’t want to go, I didn’t want him to!! These characters follow me, and have helped shape who I am and my decisions. Buffy made Spike a better “person”, and he isn’t the only one.
How does this Fangirl express her fandom?
Fashion – from wallpaper pattern scarfs (Sherlock) to Tardis t-shirts, I represent for everyone to see. My work-desk is littered with special edition My Little Ponies and mini-Doctors, as well as funny meme print outs. I’m constantly sharing information via social media, not just memes but articles, Buzzfeed posts, etc. especially for the Wholock community.
What is her favorite Fangirl item that she cannot live without?
I met Carey Elwes when he was doing a book tour promoting his behind-the-scenes book about “The Princess Bride”. It’s probably a tie between his autograph and anything I was wearing when I met Nathan Fillion (picture provided).
