Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this Fangirl?
There’s not many women involved in the UK fandom for GI Joe or Action Force (our version of GI Joe in the 80s); I hope that I could encourage a few more to come forward!
How does this Fangirl express her fandom?
I’m really involved with Roll Out Roll Call, the UK’s only convention for GI Joe and Action Force, and for last year’s show I cosplayed as Dr Mindbender, a bald, moustachioed, bare-chested male character from GI Joe. I’ve got a big collection of vintage toys, ranging from Lady Lovelocks to Care Bears to Real Ghostbusters to Battlestar Galactica and I love combing flea markets and sales to find little pieces of 80’s toy-based joy.
What is her favorite Fangirl item that she cannot live without?
Definitely my shoulder bag onto which I’ve sewn my Palitoy- and Kenner-Star Wars patches. It goes everywhere with me!
