Name of Fangirl: Lindsey
Fangirl’s Occupation: Macy’s Sales Associate
What is her Fangirl interest?
I’m a sucker for mythology, fantasy and Disney!!! I love Star Wars, especially the Clone Wars (Ahsoka, Padme, R2 and Ani are my favorites!), Harry Potter, Vampire Academy, Iron Man and Disney Disney Disney!
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this Fangirl?
It’s okay to nominate oneself, right? I saw it in step one. I’m feeling so sheepish now. But as soon as I saw this, I started geeking out, it feels good to share my geeky side with people who love many of the same movies, books and genres that I do. I’ve got two best friends who share many of my interests, but unfortunately with some similarities, they don’t share the intensity of the…fangirlishness.
How does this Fangirl express her fandom?
Whenever I’m bored or not bored even, I’m subconsciously humming the Harry Potter theme (actually Hedwig’s theme), He’s a Pirate from PoTC, the Star Wars theme or the Imperial March. I’m constantly drawing, particularly Disney characters; sometimes anime characters. If I’m at FYE or Target, I run over to the Star Wars toys. My best friend Amanda and I will pick up the lightsabers, Jedi for me, Sith for her and duel. We often joke that’s how our friendship would be in the Star Wars universe and probably more difficult of a secret to keep compared to Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala’s marriage. I also write fanfiction. I currently have chapter stories being worked on for Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Sonic the Hedgehog and Star Wars: the Clone Wars. I love writing and I love the feedback I receive, but writer’s block is evil! I also love researching. Whether it’s for my fanfiction or I’m simply curious, I look up information on my favorite characters from a particular franchise and can spend hours soaking in new information.
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?
I’m not sure if this counts as a fangirl quote, but I did hear it for the first time while watching The Princess Diaries: “Do not let others make you feel inferior without your consent.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
What is her favorite Fangirl item that she cannot live without?
Unfortunately, I cannot claim to have t-shirts or even a toy lightsaber, but I do have books. Lots of books often about my favorite genres and movies. I’ve got so many of them, my mom sometimes takes to calling me Belle. She also calls me Petra Pan…the female equivalent of Peter Pan because she thinks my geekiness means I can’t grow up. But I think my favorite fangirl thing is my imagination. I just get so creative whenever I’m in the zone and without it, I can’t express my love for my favorite books, tv shows or movies. The only troubling thing is sometimes I’m so overflowing with ideas, I can’t focus on them one at a time and they’re often “put on the backburner” and then I’m hit with even more ideas, some of them big dreams that it’s hard to give them the wings toward reality. Then there’s my princess pen I got from my most recent trip to Walt Disney World. It has a tiny replica of Aurora’s crown on the top and portraits of all of the princesses which I then use for drawing references.
