Name of Fangirl: Ashlee
Fangirl’s School Grade: Junior in High School
What is her fangirl interest?
Doctor Who, Star Wars, Walking Dead, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Sherlock, Comic Books: Dare Devil is her favorite!, Superhero’s???…well, she really seems to prefer the “bad” guys – Loki, The Joker, She-Go (from Kim Possible) and Horror movies!
Why did you decide to shine the spotlight on this fangirl?
Ashlee has been a Fangirl all her life; however, she just came to realize it for herself in the last year or two and has embraced it fully!! Her favorite’s as a little one were The Iron Giant and Scooby Doo, Kim Possible and Padme – when her friends were watching Barney! We took her to see the Phantom Menace when she was two years old…she never took her eyes off the screen and wanted to see it again right away! Her first “book” was a comic book! She was born the day “A New Hope” was coming back for it’s re-play in theaters in 1997…her dad and I were supposed to see it that day (she came two weeks early)…I’ve always told her it seemed like she was trying to get “out” early so she could see it, too! 😉
How does this fangirl express her fandom?
Ashlee has been a Cosplayer since she first started to pick out her own clothes! Growing up when she and her friends were dressing up as princesses Ash always added her own special flare: a light saber with her Jasmine costume, a pair of cowboy boots and a sword with her Belle dress…today it’s still the same; going to see Hunger Games? Ashlee isn’t just going to wear a T-Shirt with Peeta on it, nope, she’s added a long dark wig that she customized to look like Katniss’s hair. Character day at school? She so embodied Kim Possible she colored her hair and her friends didn’t even recognize her at first! Prom? We’ll be purchasing the replica of Hermione’s Yule Ball gown!
What is her favorite quote or personal motto?Â
“When you’re a kid, they tell you it’s all… grow up. Get a job. Get married. Get a house. Have a kid, and that’s it. But the truth is, the world is so much stranger than that. It’s so much darker. And so much madder. And SO much better.” – Elton Pope, Doctor Who episode “Love & Monsters”
What is her favorite fangirl item that she cannot live without?
Her Hufflepuff scarf, her Peeta standee and her James Hance print that perfectly mashes up The Iron Giant and Doctor Who!
